Have you considered making a special gift?

You may not be aware of the wonderful opportunities that exist at St. Paul Lutheran to make a real difference in the faith and well-being of others. We currently have a number of ongoing funds that that are directed toward important aspects of our mission. Over the next few months we will highlight some of these funds and their Goals.

Two important funds in the day-to-day activities of the congregation are the “Seniors Fund” and the “May Schrade Fund”.

Seniors Fund - This fund is directed by the seniors committee and used to promote the faith life of seniors in our church. It is also often used to support other worthy causes that are important to seniors and the salary for Pastor Roger Schwartz, (Visitation and Ministry to Seniors) is paid from this fund.

May Schrade Fund – This is a relatively new fund that has been set up to help support our partnership with a Student Intern Pastor. It represents a great opportunity help with our current needs and strengthen the leadership of the church into the future.

These are a couple examples of the opportunities for special giving within our church that can really make a difference. Please take a moment, when you are doing your financial and estate planning, to think about “what is important to you”. Consider giving something extra to one of our existing funds or working with the church to create a new fund which supports some other important part of our mission.

STOP BY THE BOOK NOOK FOR YOU CARD AND GIFT NEEDS
If you need a card or gift stop by the Book Nook to see what is available.

The Book Nook is our church's gift shop  It is located in hallway on the upper level near the nursery, adult library, and restrooms.  If you are looking for Christian gift items, greeting cards, napkin, CD's or tapes, Bibles or other Christian books, clothing items such as sweat shirts, T-shirts, hats, etc., stop by and check out what the Book Nook has to offer.

The Book Nook is open on Sunday mornings between worship services or you can stop in the church office during the week and you will be allowed to shop.

Have you and your family been to our church libraries recently?  Did you even know that we had two libraries at St. Paul Lutheran?   Well, we do!

There is a wonderful Children’s Library on the lower level of the education wing of the church. There are many, many good books and videos that our children can check out to take home to read or watch. If you and your children have not visited this library, we encourage you to stop by and check it out. If you have used the library in the past, we encourage you to continue to do so. It has a lot to offer!

We also have an adult library, which is located in the upstairs hallway of the education wing of the church. There are many books available here for pleasure reading, but also many resource and educational books, magazines, audio tapes and video tapes available for you to take home. There is also a table and chairs in the adult library, so if you just wish to sit and read or research something, you can do that, also.
Both libraries are accessible at any time that the church is open (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; evenings when meetings are going on, and also on Sunday mornings). We hope you will stop in and check out what our libraries have to offer.

A new book in our libraries

A note from the Social Concerns committee: As a thank you from SeAM, the book Grandfather’s Story Cloth will be in the Sunday School Library and the Adult Library. Ten-year old Chersheng helps his beloved grandfather cope with failing memory, brought on by Alzheimer’s disease, by showing him the story quilt Grandfather made after fleeing his homeland, Laos, during wartime. Check out the book – it is very good.

SeAM – Southeast Asian Ministry – is a faith-based ministry serving people of diverse cultures new to our community as they strive to achieve self-reliance. SeAM is located at 105 West University Avenue in St. Paul. Their phone number is 651-293-1261, their email address is seam-stpaul@hotmail.com, and their website is www.seam-stpaul.org
