Shannon McCabe is our full-time position, Minister of Children and Youth at Saint Paul Lutheran. Shannon is the primary staff person for those two committees and is in charge of helping to develop and nurture ministry to children, youth and families. She is in charge of developing and implementing opportunities for growth in faith through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and other ministries that relate to families in their task of nurturing the faith of children. She also works with the youth group of the congregation, developing and nurturing relationships with and between junior and senior high people and their families, so that our young people can have a healthy community in which to grow in faith as Christian friends. This includes working with confirmation, youth group, Tim Team, Youth Forum, Bible Camp and mission trips and retreats. An important part of Shannon’s work is to recruit and equip volunteers and parents to help with both of these programs.
Shannon is a 2008 graduate of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and a concentration in Youth and Family Ministry. She has experience as a Youth Director at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Mount Kisco, New York, and has worked as a Youth Director Intern at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Hastings. She also has served as a volunteer youth leader in two other congregations.
